Key events in 2008

July 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

…is the title of a posting of the ARIKAN Productivity Group’s website. It details the major events that have happened in the life of the company and the product set (which was productised this year).

The product set is one about which I have written before in this blog - and with due reason - the product set is powerful and flexible and is really what the CA Gen ecosystem is about - Innovation, Prodctivity and Value for Money.

A European Bank, and the Austrian millitary are using the datX and ModelCVS products to revolutionise their investment in existing systems.

Why Innovation ?  - simply - I’ve seen the product set (see here and here) and it’s nothing like anything I have seen before!

Why Productivity? - simply - Using the ModelCVS framework to transform older systems such as PL/1 into newer, more modern languages and toolsets - including CA Gen - how productive is that - getting a new system out of an old one !!

Why Value for Money ? Getting a longer life out of your existing investment by using tools to extend the return of investment - how Value for Money is that? Turning back the clock on your systems !

The team at APG have “hit the spot” in my opinion - they have covered all bases.

Make sure you see them at CA World 2008 :
Session 76
Session 75 and
Session 77

PRESS RELEASE

JUMAR APPOINTS NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Jumar, a leading provider of IT Services and Solutions, has appointed Paul Hughes as its new business development director. Paul was formerly Vice President, EMEA Mainframe Solutions and Services at CA (formally Computer Associates) following the acquisition of Sterling Software and is a well known figure in the IT industry.
Wendy Merricks, managing director at Jumar comments, “We are delighted to have Paul on board. His extensive experience of the IT services and solutions market and of working in a global business will be a valuable contribution to accelerating our growth internationally.”
In response, Paul explains, “I have tracked Jumar from its inception and have always been
hugely impressed by the professionalism of its people, as well as the quality of its products and services. It has a strong brand and growing portfolio of skills, services and solutions and I am very pleased to be joining the company at this exciting point in its development.
Jumar’s inclusive culture and strong work life balance ethic has played a large part in my decision to join. All of the directors have young families and it is a tribute to the culture of the company that they have managed to build a thriving business and still maintain that strong family feel.”
The business is soundly based on developing long term, close relationships with its customers and more recently implementing a number of high profile strategic partnerships.
Paul’s role will be to continue building these relationships and to develop new customers and channels to market, particularly in Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions.

Gentalk.biz Software Upgrade

July 15th, 2008 · No Comments

Beginning this evening, I will be upgrading the software behind gentalk.biz. The core software platform will be upgraded, along with some of the widgets that make the site work. Please be patient if the site seems unavailable, or unresponsive for a while - please try again later. I’ll try and make the upgrade as painless as possible, and will be submitting “microblog entries” (See News from Second Life in the right sidebar) with progress information as I go. Thanks for your support…….

EDIT[16-JUL-2008]: The upgrade went OK - there is still a problem with the archives - they ARE available, but in a modified form (see the bottom of the left sidebar). I’m still working on the problem and hope to have it resolved over the next few days.
