ModelCVS – datX and ProgGen

The next Gen Gathering will be presented by Estefan Euler of the Arikan Productivity Group on 21st May 2008 at 9pm BST (UK Time)

Estefan will be talking about the modernisation of old applications – taking PL/1 code and constructing Gen models out of them. He will talk about the datX and ProgGen components of the ModelCVS framework.

Make sure that you have your audio setup working before the event – please arrive at least 30 minutes in advance to ensure that you get a seat and test your audio capabilities.

This is a great chance to learn about the possibilities and capabilities of this toolset.

New Model analyser module released by Jumar Solutions

As this news release states, upgrading from any previous version of Gen to Gen 7.6 is a fairly major undertaking.

What Jumar have done here is to take their accumulated knowledge of upgrades and apply it to a set of tools.

Project Phoenix is their rejuvenation technology, and one module of that is their new Upgrade Module for 7.6.

Upgrades of any software are always going to be a problem, and whilst there is never a silver bullet to fix all known issues, tools such as this will surely reduce the manpower, risk and worry associated with such upgrades.
It’s a “must have” tool – since many users must be considering a 7.6 upgrade, a tool that tells you where the problems are going to be surely must be high on the shopping list of all upgrading Gen sites.
