Upgrades are always a hot topic – there are many reasons for upgrading your Gen systems – some of them necessary, some of them not-so.

Do you need to upgrade just to stay in support ?

Do you need to upgrade to take advantage of new features ?

This session will be a “free-for-all” which will discuss upgrades within the CA Gen arena – what’s good, what’s bad and what would we all like to see.

If you haven’t joined Second Life yet, join a growing band of Gen enthusiasts who meet and talk on a regular basis….

Reminder about useful CA Gen Links

Although these links have been on the site for a while, I don’t see a lot of usage of them (looking at the “hit” stats) – they are Gen success stories, and all of us who use the toolset should be aware of how its being used around the world and the success it brings to businesses.

The CA page is a good place to start looking for publicly documented success stories.

UK CA Gen User Group Day 2008

I attended the day with the other 23 attendees (a really good turnout) and came away enthused about Gen and what people are doing with it.

The presentations were from CA about the roadmap for Gen (subject to the usual legal caveats), a product update from IET and an introduction to VerifIEr, information about practical preparation for implementing Web Services, Jumar Solutions’ approach to Gen 7.6 upgrades (which imparted lots of excellent knowledge and tips for people considering it) and a different perspective on Gen and its’ benefits from a UK software house.

We finished off with a “round table” on Gen 7.6 upgrades which (as these things so often do) veered off into different subject areas.

I certainly got a lot out of the day and hope that everyone else in the UK Gen community did too.

Hopefully the fledgling UK CA Gen User Group will flourish and grow  from this point forward !
