Gen Village Re-Opening 26th August 2008

August 26th 2008, at 9pm UK time and later at 5pm ET (USA), the new Gen Village in Second Life will be holding a Grand Re-Opening, which is being sponsored by EDGE and APG.

Gentalk Gaffer will be hosting the European sessions together with Estefan Euler, with Wyndi Sorbet  hosting the US sessions.

We have members of EDGE, and several Gen eco-system vendors presenting their products and ideas, and possibly CA presence too. It’s a great, free opportunity to connect with members of EDGE, and other Gen professionals.

The agenda is varied and interesting, including members of EDGE, and several other eco-system vendors, all of whom have differing experiences of the product, presenting their products and ideas.

The event will also provide opportunities for you to meet and make contact with other CA Gen users, and form useful relationships, which will help both you and the product grow and develop into the future.

There will be ample opportunity to explore the new Gen Village, which contains virtual offices, an auditorium, the new Gen Academy building and lots of other active content.

The Gen Village has been constructed on land purchased with funds from APG in Austria, and will be soon be extended with funding from EDGE.

For more information, download the “Getting Started” eBook, or use the links on the left sidebar to sign up for Second Life, and keep up with the changes in the Agenda as we get closer to he event here.

Please also make sure that you have tested your Second Life connection, audio and Quicktime setup well in advance, and get to the event (either Europe or US or both) early !

As ever, any help with Second Life, or information required, or if you are a vendor and want to present, or have a stand or even an office in the Gen Village, email me on info@gentalk.biz and I will help you out.

Gen Village pictures

On 23rd July,at the newly-opened Gen Village, GenArchitect Robonaught,, Gentalk Gaffer and Estefan Euler chatted and explored for about an hour. We explored the possibilities that the Village might hold and demonstrated some of the facilities and capabilities, such as microblogging, interactive feedback and the training facility.

Key events in 2008

…is the title of a posting of the ARIKAN Productivity Group‘s website. It details the major events that have happened in the life of the company and the product set (which was productised this year).

The product set is one about which I have written before in this blog – and with due reason – the product set is powerful and flexible and is really what the CA Gen ecosystem is about – Innovation, Prodctivity and Value for Money.

A European Bank, and the Austrian millitary are using the datX and ModelCVS products to revolutionise their investment in existing systems.

Why Innovation ?  – simply – I’ve seen the product set (see here and here) and it’s nothing like anything I have seen before!

Why Productivity? – simply – Using the ModelCVS framework to transform older systems such as PL/1 into newer, more modern languages and toolsets – including CA Gen – how productive is that – getting a new system out of an old one !!

Why Value for Money ? Getting a longer life out of your existing investment by using tools to extend the return of investment – how Value for Money is that? Turning back the clock on your systems !

The team at APG have “hit the spot” in my opinion – they have covered all bases.

Make sure you see them at CA World 2008 :
Session 76
Session 75 and
Session 77

Gen “Free-for-all” day Wednesday 23rd July 2008

SInce there is no Gen Gathering in Second Life this month, instead, there will be a “free-for-all” on Wednesday 23rd July 2008 at the NEW Gen Village in Second Life. the topics for discussion will be…. whatever people want to talk about! For those who have already attended the Gatherings, please remember that the Gen HQ has moved to become “The Gen Village”…. so update your landmarks and use the new link below to get there!

Most people attend the Gen Gatherings around 9pm UK Time, but any time during the day will be fine! If anyone wishes to record any sessions, and/or produce transcripts or audio, then I let me know and I will construct a montage of pictures, video, sound or whatever!!!

This is a great opportunity to informally meet and greet other Gen practitioners.
