Gen APIs

The Gen encyclopedia has a C API as we know, and it has an automation component which runs (only against locally downloaded models).
I said in this post  last year that it would be a great idea if there was a Java API for the encyclopedia.

Of course, I didn’t think about the other obvious candidate  – a .NET API

It seems that someone in QAT has had sort of the same ideas, since in their new blog  – specifically this post, they talk about generating (presumably for internal use) a .NET wrapper for the C API.

The article is the first of a series (hence the “….Part 1″ in the title) which I’ll be watching out for.

Product successes in the Gen ecosystem

I think that it is always good to report successes of the Gen toolset, or the ecosystem products – here‘s a recent one from a customer of xTrace.

It accurately reflects the iterative process behind the “growing” of ecosystem products – customers suggest stuff which fulfils a genuine need and it gets implemented in the product – power to the people !!!

New CA Webcast – CA Gen Multi-User Diagram Trace Utility for C Servers

This webcast will take place on 10th 18th Feb 2009 at 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. EST for approximately 1 hour

This webcast will explore the most efficient methods of using multiple Diagram Trace Utilities running on CA Gen client workstations to trace common CA Gen C Servers. Individual C Clients that communicate with C Servers using TE, TCP direct connect or Websphere MQ as the middleware can take advantage of this capability. This feature benefits CA Gen development shops where multiple users are testing various load modules within the same application.”
