CA Gen UK & Ireland User Day 2010

Jumar Solutions are hosting this year’s CA Product Line Communities (PLC) meeting on 7th October at the Jurys Inn in Birmingham (previously announced here).

This free event will feature presentations from CA Gen users with direct hands-on experience of the product, as well as the latest information on r8 and other current issues.  Feedback from attendees at previous PLC events is being reflected in the programme and event structure which is still being finalised.

Also arranged is a pre-event dinner on the evening of Wednesday 6th October for those attendees staying overnight.  To be held at one of Birmingham’s foremost restaurants – Bank - in the lively Brindley Place area, this is also free to attendees of the PLC.

Both the User Group and dinner will provide excellent opportunities for you to meet and make contact with other CA Gen users in the UK, to form useful contacts, which will help both you and the product grow and develop into the future.

If you would like to present a session at this User Group or have any questions, please send an email to info@gentalk.biz for discussion.

If you wish to attend the User Group and pre-event dinner please register as quickly as possible by visiting http://www.jumar-solutions.com/register/ukgenplc

Please also forward the invite (which you can download here)  to other CA Gen users that you may know in order that we can grow our community!

CA Gen Application Modernisation – more !

Back in January, I made reference to CBDI‘s Application Modernisation posting. I noticed that they also have a collaboration with Jumar Solutions called SOA4GEN.

SOA4GEN is a methodology supported by tooling which will allow your CA Gen applications to be modernised.

Why do they need modernising if they’ve been working quite well over the last 20 years ?

There are modern paradigms of application design i.e. patterns that organisations now wish to adopt. Whilst its easy to do this in CA Gen, applications of any size will still take careful management and inspection to be able to be modernised efficiently – so use tooling and a methodology to do it in a timely fashion.

Catch up with the slide presentation here:

Outsystems’ Agility, Jumar Solutions and CA Gen – a Winning Combination

In this latest move, Jumar and Outsystems have released a set of tools which shows how the Agility platform and CA Gen are perfect bedfellows.

Doug Michael, Technical Director of Jumar Solutions tells us why here:

…and a demonstration of the platform and the way CA Gen can be leveraged is here:

Check out the page here for more information – I’m really enthused by all of this stuff – you need to look at this in more detail.

Gen Network Dinner – F1 Style

Just got back from a fantastic Gen Network Dinner at the RBS Williams F1 Conference Centre near Oxford, UK.

We had a great tour around the Williams F1 Museum, looking at the development of the Williams cars from 1977 to 2009, including some famous cars driven by the likes of Keke Rosberg and Nigel Mansell.

Over dinner we discussed the issues associated with the CA Gen upgrades (specifically 7.6) and pooled our thoughts on Gen in the SOA space.

Its great to catch up on old friends and discuss issues and problems relevant to all of us in the CA Gen space in the UK, and collaborating and sharing knowledge is what makes these events really worthwhile. I always come away with snippets of knowledge that really can’t be gained elsewhere.

I Tweeted at the event, so did @JUMARSOLUTIONS. More photos when I can upload them tomorrow !

Thanks for a great event, Jumar!
